We have now highlighted the most straightforward process for students to obtain their individual National Identification Number (NIN). Currently, candidates who have registered and got their NINs will be able to register for the 2022 JAMB UTME.
The necessity of acquiring your NIN now cannot be overstated, as failure to do so could result in a student’s inability to fulfill key responsibilities in school or NYSC in the near future, necessitating the need to get it now and rest.
As a result, we believe it is vital to provide all students, including prospective UTME candidates, with instructions on how to register and receive a NIN before the 2022 UTME registration period begins, which is likely to begin soon.
What Exactly Is NIN?
The acronym NIN stands for National Identification Number. It is made up of 11 non-intelligible numbers that are allocated to a person when they have completed their enrolment in the National Identity Database (NIDB).
A NIN can never be transferred, given, or used by another person once it has been allocated to them, making them one-of-a-kind. When an individual passes away, his or her NIN is retired once a death certificate is given to the Commission and the individual’s death is confirmed.
The NIN is used to link all of an individual’s data in the database and to establish or validate his or her identification. All citizens and legal residents of Nigeria, starting at the age of zero (birth), are able to apply for NIN.
Check to see if you already have a NIN.
Check to see whether you already have a NIN before proceeding with the registration process. To find out, dial *346# on the phone that you used to register for the NIN.
You can either take a screenshot of your NIN or write it down somewhere once it appears. Please keep in mind that you are not permitted to share your NIN on any social networking platform.
You can, however, share it if trusted institutions ask for it. On all Nigerian mobile networks, including MTN, AIRTEL, GLO, and 9mobile, getting your NIN by dialing *346# is completely FREE.
If you don’t already have a NIN, you’ll need to apply for one.
