The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has completed all arrangements to validate and accredit exam centers as part of its preparations for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The final session, which was streamed live from the Board’s National Headquarters, covered the processes for the accreditation of centers to be used for the 2022 UTME.
“The exercise is required so that we can review the conduct of the 2021 UTME as well as look at those areas that require development,” stated the Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, as he opened the meeting.
Mr. Fabian Okoro, Director, Information Technology Services (ITS), revealed that there would be roughly six centers across the six geographic zones that would be used to test run the new-age technology that the Board is seeking to install.
The Chief Technical Advisers (CTA) were tasked with conducting thorough inspections of the various centers’ CCTV installations and other security devices. “If centers are not adequately covered, center owners must make plans to install extra cameras since remote monitoring of the examination is non-negotiable,” Mr Okoro added.
The Director (ITS) emphasized that all computer systems must be connected to a local area network (LAN) and that the Board would not allow a wireless network.
Other requirements included that all centers be well-fenced and not share a space with any other business, that enough backup systems be supplied, that the power supply be up and running, and that each center has working air conditioning.
We anticipate that form sales for the 2022 UTME/DE will begin following the certification process.
