UTME 2022 registration may begin a bit late due to forces beyond our control - JAMB

Due to events beyond its control, JAMB has announced that pre-examination activities, including registration for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, will be delayed.

In an interview within Abuja, the board’s spokesman, Dr Fabian Benjamin, revealed this.

The board also justified its decision to require a National Identification Number throughout the registration procedure.

“The board’s implementation of the NIN in UTME registration in 2021 was a game-changer in the fight against impersonation and other examination violations,” according to Fabian. Given the numerous difficulties and opposition to the policy from many places, it should be highlighted that the decision to implement the NIN was a difficult one.

“However, the board, seeing the many benefits associated with the deployment of the NIN, took the unpopular but beneficial decision, knowing that any departure from the norm would, more often than not, be met with initial opposition and rejection, and was, therefore, understandably undeterred in its chosen course of action.”

He went on to say that the board is prepared to go to whatever length not just to fulfill the deadline, but also to make the 2022 UTME registration and examination the greatest yet.

Candidates for the 2022 UTME are urged to begin studying for their tests as soon as possible.
